Rack MG45 Corrosion Inspection
Rack MG45 Corrosion Inspection from BSM Racking identifies weakened metal in pallet racks, helping you assess replacement needs in Singapore.
Product Description
| Warehouse racking faces fluctuating temperatures, damp conditions and the constant movement of people and goods. Together, these everyday influences can gradually degrade the individual components supporting the storage structure. Deteriorating racks do more than disrupt an organised, productive operation: they can also create serious health and safety hazards for everyone working nearby. Correctly installed and properly maintained pallet racking offers dependable, durable storage, yet concealed defects may still escape notice. Recognising the warning signs is essential when deciding whether your racks need a corrosion inspection or replacement. As part of routine pallet rack inspections in Singapore, the BSM Racking team checks beam corrosion using the MG45 method for thickness measurement on internally corroded metals. Look out for peeling paint, discoloured beams and visible corrosion, as these signs can indicate that the underlying metal is losing strength. Rust must not be allowed to compromise your racking. Once corrosion weakens the metal, a frame may no longer support its original rated load, even when the stored goods remain within the stated weight allowance. Loads that were previously acceptable can then exceed the strength of the damaged structure and potentially cause it to collapse. Leaving this deterioration unattended will not resolve it, and the damage cannot simply be repaired away. Where testing by BSM Racking confirms internal corrosion through the MG45 method, replacing the affected pallet racking is the most sensible course of action. | |
