Product Description

Why Regular Warehouse Rack Inspections Matter

As equipment classed as Work Equipment, pallet racking needs routine maintenance and inspections recorded in writing. Day-to-day warehouse activities can damage both pallet racks and shelving, making ongoing checks an important part of their upkeep.

Unsafe conditions can arise from operator mistakes, untidy working areas, excessive loads or improvised repairs. Neglected maintenance and departures from the manufacturer’s operating guidance can further undermine the safety of a racking installation.

Rack damage is not always readily visible, so staff may struggle to identify developing problems through visual observation alone. Scheduled inspections are therefore necessary to help detect issues that ordinary daily monitoring might overlook.

The Rack Inspection Service Available from BSM Racking

Although some countries make pallet rack inspections a legal obligation, they are not a legal requirement in Singapore. BSM Racking nevertheless provides existing customers with one inspection each year at no additional charge. This annual service is a distinctive part of our customer support and one of the reasons customers choose to work with us.

Our professional checks also examine why damage occurred. Understanding its causes supports better operating practices, helps limit further damage and can lower maintenance costs without harming the installed racking. We are currently unable to carry out inspections for overseas customers. Where an overseas inspection is needed, we can instead recommend a third-party inspection company to assist.

Choosing an Inspection Schedule for Your Racks

We generally recommend a rack safety inspection every 6 months. The appropriate interval may be shorter or longer, however, according to the conditions and activities within your particular operation.
